You’ve probably been told to “just enjoy the journey” but deep down, you know that motherhood isn’t just baby snuggles and milestone moments.

It’s the inner work, the emotional shifts, the questions that keep you up at night:

“Am I really ready for this?”
“What if I’m not coping as well as I should?”
“How do I take care of my mind not just my body so I can be the mom I want to be?”

For the mom-to-be who’s quietly worried, unsure and carrying more questions than answers.

Maybe you’re...

  • Wondering how mental illness could impact your pregnancy or your baby
  • Afraid of going through that dark season AGAIN
  • Hesitant about medication, unsure what’s safe
  • Feeling stuck between conflicting opinions, online advice and even doctors who don’t always agree
  • Struggling to stay connected in your most important relationships

If any of that sounds familiar, The Mindful Mom Method group coaching for moms with Dr Elsa du Toit was created just for you.

Treatment should start with prevention

Let’s be honest anyone can experience Postnatal Depression.

It doesn’t mean you’re weak.

It doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

It simply means you’re human.

Some moms may be more vulnerable than others, but no one is immune. That’s why waiting until things fall apart is no longer good enough.

At the moment, most healthcare systems are built around treating mental illness after it’s already taken hold. But what if we could shift that model entirely?
What if women were supported before they reach breaking point?

The three layers of prevention:
  1. Primary Prevention for every woman.
  2. Secondary Prevention for those at higher risk.
  3. Tertiary Prevention for moms already facing challenges.

Because when women are empowered before crisis hits, everything changes - Families are stronger. Babies are nurtured. Mothers stay whole.

Why Mental Health Matters

This week is all about starting strong by understanding the real impact of mental health in motherhood, debunking common myths and taking your first step toward positive, lasting habits.

  • Why mental health matters in the perinatal period

  • Understanding the prevalence and impact of maternal depression and anxiety

  • Depression isn’t just a label, it’s a symptom that needs correct diagnosis

  • Learn about the mental health continuum from normal mood fluctuations to severe illness

  • And most importantly: Every woman is unique

Week 2

What does healthy really look like?

This week, we dive deeper into the idea that “every woman is unique.” Health isn’t just about what’s happening in your body it’s about what’s happening in your mind, your relationships and your environment.

Introducing the Bio Psycho-Social Model of Health. The interconnection of biological, psychological and social factors and how they impact holistic health.

Factors such as chronic illness, childhood experiences and support structures all contribute to overall health and wellbeing.

Week 3
Building Resilience

Explore your risks and strengths.

  • What is resilience?
  • Why do we need resilience in perinatal time?

This week is all about identifying risks. We need to recognise and acknowledge them to mitigate them.

Find & build strengths for an added layer of protection against mental illness and promoting mental health.

Week 4
Relationships & Communication

This week we turn our focus outward to the relationships that carry us (or sometimes challenge us) during pregnancy and early motherhood.

This week, we explore:

  • The importance of flexibility and adjustment in key relationships
  • Clear communication, what it is and how to ask for what you actually need
  • Why expectations (spoken or not) can cause friction
  • How depression and anxiety can silently sabotage connection
  • Why self-care isn't selfish
Week 5
So many options, who do I believe?

This week is all about cutting through the confusion. Pregnancy and motherhood come with no shortage of opinions from professionals, influencers, friends, family and even strangers on the internet.

We dive into the art of critical thinking, you’ll learn:

  • Why fears thrive in uncertainty and information overload
  • How to evaluate the source of advice, articles or research
  • A simple, powerful tool to help you cut through the noise: the WATCH method
Week 6
Treatment starts with prevention - primary, secondary & tertiary

This week you will explore your personal risks and strengths, challenge common fears, build new habits and gain real tools to protect your mental wellbeing.

With the tools you will learn, you will be able to place yourself into one of the three categories. Now it’s time to pause, reflect and ask:

“What do I need now and what’s the next best step for me?”

Week 7
Reflection

This week you will reflect on the application of the newly learned knowledge and skills, check in on your progress and tackle residual questions.
